The Most Creative Firm

Before establishing an opinion on who is the most creative firm in the world, I will make a base requirement for that. After thinking for while, the best requirement is that the company must conduct consistent continual innovation. And for that, I selected Google Inc. as the most creative company in the world.

There are so many reasons to prove it :D. First, I believe that you noticed the Google logo is usually changing when there are important dates or events. For instance, during the London Olympic 2012, the Google’s logo for search engine page was showing the Olympic theme. A team in the company that modify the logo is called Google Doodle. It consists of Michael Lopez, Ryan Germick, Susie Sahim, Jennifer Hom, serta Dennis Hwang. The purpose of their creativity is to create a search engine with more humanist interaction.

Second, Google is always encouraging its employees to conduct new innovative projects besides their primary job itself at Google. The company gives 20% of its employee to be creative and run their own project. The results are amazing. Many innovations are made by the 20% policy such as Google Spreadsheets, Google Art, and many more.

The other important and creative continual improvement conducted by Google is Google Map which is also closely related to Google Earth. In 2007, an improvement called Google Street View is added to the usage in the US and continuously introduced to the Europe and Asia Pacific. In my opinion, this creative improvement is very great because then people can see a real first-person visual looks of the street.

There are also many creative products launched by Google such as Google Body. It enables the user to search and view the comprehensive anatomy of human’s body.

Creativity’s Importance and The Most Creative Man

Creativity is very important in our whole life because it exists in our daily life and must not be underestimated. It is very useful for our personal, study, and also career & business life.  Some people said that creativity is something natural and come automatically from a person. However, creativity must also be encouraged in the society and our environment.

The creativity itself will then produce and also grasp the best idea and the best implementation of our activities. For example, as a student in SBM-ITB, a person needs to be very creative in presenting his/her material to the others in order to make the audience attracted to the presentation. In the future, the creative presentation is very crucial because business life is full of persuasion if we want to be successful.

Besides for making presentation, a student also requires creativity to solve mathematical problems more efficiently and more effectively. Solving mathematical computation quickly is very important especially for Financial courses such as Financial Analysis and Corporate Finance. Furthermore, a career in Finance will require someone to be a fast thinker in the quantitative environment.

I take examples from SBM-ITB activities deliberately because it is my daily activity and it would be the best if I can write something about that.

According to me, the most creative man that ever lived in the world is Momofuku Ando. He is the inventor of Instant Noodles and Cup Noodles that we, Indonesians, eat every time.

He is also the founder of one of the biggest food company called Nissin Food Products Co., Ltd. By using this fact, we can consider him as a creative inventor and also a great businessman.

Momofuku Ando used his great creativity to solve its country’s problem. At that era of post-war, Japan faced a great problem of shortage in food supply. The Japanese government then took action to import bread from United States even though Japanese people are not familiar to that food. The government said that there were not enough noodles to fulfill all of the demand since the noodles companies’ capacity is still small. By seeing this phenomenon, Ando realized that he needs to take action. He believed a statement which is:

“Peace will come to the world when the people have enough to eat” – Momofuku Ando

The first instant noodles he invented is called Chikin Ramen in 1958.

I am touched by this believe that Ando shares to us. His creativity and invention has fed millions of life in the world, including Indonesia. In our country, the product of instant noodles is adapted by Indofood which produced Indomie. This product has been sold to so many countries around the world because it has competitive advantages such as cheap price, instant preparation, and delicious taste.

The Truest Meaning of My Name

Hey there folks! :D. I do really hope that you will enjoy reading my blog as a whole. This blog is mainly dedicated for the course of Creativity and Innovation held by SBM-ITB.

Within my first post, I am going to describe about my name. My full name is Fikri Hafidz Hasibuan and I will explain to you about the meaning of it. My parents gave me this great name as a big hope for me.

First Name: FIKRI

The word of “Fikri” is actually an Arabic name which actually means “Thought”, “Think”, or “Thinker”. The idea of giving me this first name came from my mom. At that time, she was confused of searching a good name for her new-born son. So, she took a magazine and found an article that has a name index including the meaning of the name. After that, she gave me this name and it was approved by my dad. They hope that I will become a great thinker in the future and solve many problems in Indonesia.

Moreover, this name is exactly what I am right now. I always think heavily before act and doing something. The consequence is that I become a good strategic planner and also find effective and efficient ways for my activities.

Middle Name: HAFIDZ

Similar to my first name, the second name which is “Hafidz” is also an Arabic terminology. Hafidz can be defined as a person who memorized Al-Qur’an. The other definition is the “Keeper” of the world from destruction and obliteration.

Nope, my last name does not come from Arab anymore. It is my family because I come from a Batak ethnic family.

So, that’s all! I wish you enjoy reading my first post :D.
